Bartu is a Principal at BridgeX, where he invests in frontier technologies across AI, biotech, robotics, and space. He is originally from Brussels and Istanbul, and he has lived in London, Oxford, New York, and Austin.

In 2016, Bartu co-founded the AIBE Summit and organized one of the world’s largest conferences on artificial intelligence. Following this spark, he started his journey in venture capital at Seraphim Space, joined the European Space Agency, worked at the Satellite Applications Catapult, and helped launch the Oxford Space Initiative. More recently, he has established the Center for Space Governance, organized tech events in New York, and co-founded the startup Autoplay AI (raised $2M).

Bartu has a Law degree and an MS in Technology Management from University College London, an MA in International Affairs from Columbia University, and he spent a semester living in Austin, Texas where he took classes at UT Austin. He is a fellow at the International Strategy Forum and the Foresight Institute. He is currently building the Civilization Atlas platform, with its first product launched: the U.S. Frontier Tech Map.
