Sean Foote

Sean has been an early stage investor since 1998. Throughout his firms, Co=Creation=Capital, Labrador Ventures, Quona Capital, and Transform Capital, he has invested in over 200 companies including Hotmail, Pandora, Yugabyte, and Turing. Concurrently, he assists corporations and venture firms with their investment activities and helps start new funds.

Before venture investing, Sean was a management consultant with Boston Consulting Group, working in a wide range of industries including telecoms, computers, healthcare, banking, and automotive on topics ranging from strategic alliances to Internet strategies. He also worked as a systems engineer for AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he developed AI systems for testing complex telecommunications networks.

Since 2003, Sean has been teaching venture capital and private equity at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. He has also taught a course on impact investing at Stanford University, with a real-time simulcast to 100 business school campuses around the country, as well as classes in entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan’s Ross Business School, the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He has written and published several cases on venture capital and microfinance.

Sean received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri Rolla (1988), and his MBA from the University of Virginia (1993), where he received the Shermett Award, which is granted to the top 3% of students at the Darden School of Business.
